I hope you’ve been enjoying your summer break. While you’ve been away lots of changes have been taking place! This year we will see some new faces, both students’ and teachers’. To all of our new families: welcome to St. Rita’s. To our returning families: I look forward to seeing you again!
As many of you already know, St. Rita’s is busy during the summer! We’ve brought on three new faculty members – let’s welcome Miss Kim Fehrenbach in 1st Grade, Miss Haley Klatt in 4th Grade, and Mr. Michael Montijo in 6th Grade! Additionally, Mrs. Kris Rowland will be our full-time Classroom Aide, and Ms. Julie Marden will become our Daycare Director and Lunch Supervisor.
I’ve been in and out of the office, trekked to Los Angeles on the train with our benefactors to meet with a potential donor, and attended an Immigration Summit from CSJ Educational Network in Orange. Mrs. Farinas, Mrs. Lepore, Ms. Krisman, and Mr. Rice were busy the entire month of July, teaching a variety of new topics and reinforcing traditional skills for our 45 summer school students. They tried new ideas, thought “outside the box,” and adapted to meet the various learning styles of students while introducing Earth Science, Home Economics, and Visual and Performing Arts into our academic program. The students really enjoyed summer school! I’m thankful to have such a phenomenal staff, and to be a part of this great community!
Included in this mailing is important information regarding the first days of school. You will find all you need to know about uniforms, daycare, and other valuable material for your child’s upcoming days at St. Rita’s School. Please remember that only students with no remaining balance from last year will be allowed to attend class. For your convenience, the school office will be open all of August between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please visit or call us if you have any questions regarding your child’s registration or admittance on the first day of school.
This is the first of many newsletters you will receive this year. Please keep them handy so you can stay connected with St. Rita’s. The school will continue to use SchoolSpeak, our easy communication platform for parents and teachers. You can check homework, grades, progress reports and report cards, and see calendars and classroom bulletins all in one place! The school’s website (www.stritassd.org) is another great way to stay informed. Look for upcoming events, weekly teacher newsletters, The Passport- my weekly newsletter to all parents, and photos of events on the school’s site.
As partners in your child’s education, we look forward to the collaborative process that defines St. Rita’s School. The new and familiar faces of teachers and staff will greet all of you upon your return. Please note that school begins on Wednesday, August 23rd, and will dismiss at 12:00 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The following week will be full days, with dismissal at 3:00. Daycare registration will be held Wednesday morning, with afternoon session officially beginning on the first day of school (Morning care will be available starting on Thursday, the second day of school). Students must be in full uniform the first week of school. Also, keep in mind that our hot lunch program requires pre-ordering by the day before, so please call or email the office if you want your child to receive hot lunch the first day of school.
Thank you for partnering with St. Rita’s School. See you on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 8:00 – the first day of school!
